Windows Vista/7/8/8.1/10 (32 or 64 bit) Anyconnect Client Installation

1. Browse to NS VPN Client Download Page
2. Start the 'anyconnect-win' installer downloaded in step 2.
3. At each prompt, click 'Next.' You may see a 'User Account Control' dialog box asking if you would like to install the program. Click 'Yes.'
4. Once the install is complete, click 'Finish.'
5. Start the 'anyconnect-win-gina' installer downloaded in step 2.
6. At each prompt, click 'Next.' You may see a 'User Account Control' dialog box asking if you would like to install the program. Click 'Yes.'
7. Once the install is complete, click 'Finish.'
8. The machine will now ask to reboot. Click yes to reboot.
9. Launch the client by going to Start->All Programs->Cisco->Cisco Anyconnect Secure Mobility Client
   
10. In the field to the left of the 'Connect' button, click on the text area and type 'vpn.ufl.edu'. Click connect.
11. Authenticate with your gatorlink ID (in the form of username@ufl.edu) and your gatorlink password. Click OK.
12. The most recent version of the client and vpn configuration files will be automatically downloaded. This may require another reboot to complete the update.
13. Your client is now ready for use.

Notes:

• Once the Anyconnect is installed on your machine, it will always be automatically upgraded to the latest version as they are published by Network Services. You shouldn't need to go through the manual installation process unless you reinstall your operating system, or your client becomes corrupted and needs to be uninstalled and reinstalled.
• After connecting for the first time, the VPN policy will be pushed to your client. The pulldown will say 'Gatorlink VPN' rather than vpn.ufl.edu after this policy is downloaded.

I've got both installed and there is absolutely no difference in the performance of the built in menu bar VPN with or without Cisco installed. I hate Cisco's VPN client but I can't give it up entirely until the built in VPN starts working reliably (for some reason it works sometimes and other times it does not work), so I am keeping both installed for now with no problems except the occasional kernel panic caused by Cisco (which has been happening since Leopard).

I also have both working side-by-side, and the menu bar widget works fine for me.

Previously used the Cisco VPN Client app and hated how slow it was. Uninstalled it and created a VPN Network Connection from System Preferences, easily entered my VPN settings and works like a charm and is blazing fast. No need to install any additional software and now my authentication connects me in about a blink of an eye. Kudos Apple!

I got both installed. The Cisco client stopped working after the SL upgrade, the built-in SL client runs great.

SL's cisco VPN works for me but I am using a Group Name and Shared Secret plus my own username/password authentication. I am having some problems with the client where I connect and it authenticates fine but I am not able to access the internet. Generally disconnecting and reconnecting until I get a new IP seems to solve it but it's still weird that it only happens on the Apple client, not the Cisco client.

2.3.2016 seems to run on Snow Leopard, but my previous version (2.3.0254) didn't.
Both install into /opt/cisco/vpn, not /usr/local. Maybe this changed since the version the original poster was using...?

Re the question on configuring the built-in Cisco client for use with RSA - it does work, at least as how our IT shop has configured things. In our case, our login has a static user ID, and a password of 6 fixed characters, followed by the 6 randomly generated RSA digits.
I extracted the info needed from one of my .pcf files that I've been using with the Cisco client from Cisco and configured the SL network config for VPN access. (Had found this info on the apple support forums.)
Simply left the password blank, and when I connected over an existing network connection, I was prompted for the password. Entered my 6 fixed and 6 RSA-generated digits, and I was in!

I configured the native VPN for Cisco IPSec, with Server Address, Account Name and Password. I also had Authentication Settings set with Group Name and Shared Secret. When it connect, always give me the prompt 'Enter your user authentication', Cancel, OK. There is no edit field in the prompt popup, plus username/password already there with the original configuration. So, How did you guy do about the user name and password? Is it correct that getting that prompt? If yes, where to enter the information?

I had this same issue, mine worked sometimes and not others.
I also had an Apain vpn client I removed.
it seems to have something to do with racoon.
run this until it tell you 'no matching processes were found'
sudo /usr/bin/killall -9 racoon
If you disconnect and cant reconnect - do it again
